Reports are released only to the physician who submitted the specimen. The patient may request a copy of the pathology report from his/her referring physician.

Carolinas Pathology provides interpretation/diagnosis and examination of specimens as well as providing medical director services for clinical laboratories.

Generally Carolinas Pathology will bill insurance for our patients. If there are deductibles, co-insurance or co-pays; or if insurance denies the claim, the patient will be responsible for the balance.

Atrium Health bills for the preparation of the specimen, and Carolinas Pathology bills for the physician’s interpretation/diagnosis of the specimen.

Carolinas Pathology is a group of pathologists and PhD scientists who are contracted by Atrium Health to provide pathology services to designated Atrium Health facilities. Carolinas Pathology physicians, in addition to interpreting your pathology specimen, provide medical directorship of the clinical laboratories at designated AH facilities.
